REST
My days are long and yet my nights still come
To last the longer while, to keep me lost
In blackened days of suns too far and some
Too dim to ease the ache where I have tossed.
In states of gray and smudge and never white
The sleep eludes me until the sky blues
The yellow streaks through the window too bright
The day arrives with sweet and heavy cues
White sky days lay overcast without rhyme
Barren, brown, not so alive, stand the trees
Casting shadows marking the dragging time
No sound reaches me, there's no birds, no bees
Until again the yellow orange streams
To bring the navy night that steals my dreams.
